第一次世界大戰後，九龍迅速城市化。在1920年代，政府在深水埗填海並修建了街道，房屋陸續興建，大部分是三至四層的唐樓。以戰時航空照片對比今日的地理資訊，可見深水埗尚有多座戰前興建的唐樓至今仍在使用，但不少在外觀有所改變。 

Following the First World War, Kowloon rapidly urbanised. In the 1920s, the government reclaimed land in Sham Shui Po and constructed streets, gradually erected buildings, most of which were three- to four-story tenement buildings. Comparing wartime aerial photographs with current geographical information reveals that many pre-war tenement buildings in Sham Shui Po remain in use today, though numerous structures have changed in appearance.
